Tamper-Proof Digital Signature for X-ray Images

When a safety-critical component is approved based on radiographic testing, that decision must be provable even years later if in doubt. ISee! Professional automatically applies a cryptographic signature and an independent, forgery-proof timestamp to X-ray images, including all measurement data and evaluations (ROIs). This makes it possible to prove at any time when an image was taken, and to demonstrate that neither inspector nor customer subsequently removed or added a defect. Every inspection decision, for example in aerospace or industrial plant construction, thus remains permanently reliable.

Digital Image Signature in ISee! Professional

The signing is based on the cryptographic RSA method and is integrated into every licensed version of ISee! Professional. An external, independent TSA service compliant with the RFC-3161 specification is connected for the timestamp. The entire process is fully automated: when a dataset is saved, the signature and timestamp are generated automatically; when an image is loaded, the signature is verified automatically and the result is displayed immediately – without inspectors having to initiate anything themselves. Since ISee! Professional works with almost any digital detector and many other imaging devices regardless of manufacturer, this tamper protection applies independently of the hardware used and can be integrated into existing inspection workflows without being tied to a specific equipment manufacturer.
