ISO 17636-2 defines the minimum requirements for the radiographic inspection of metallic welds using digital technology. The standard covers the inspection of welds in plates and pipes, as well as in piping systems and pressure vessels.
DIN EN 12681-2 specifies the procedure for the radiographic inspection of castings to detect discontinuities using computed radiography (CR) and digital detectors. Discontinuities may include gas pores, non-metallic inclusions, shrinkage cavities, cracks, or inclusions with lower or higher density than the base material.
Both standards define a quality level that is at least equivalent to film-based inspection and economically feasible.
