About ISee! Professional

ISee! Professional is the third generation of our successful radiology software for industrial users, specifically designed to increase the reliability, flexibility, and efficiency of digital radiographic inspection. ISee! Professional continues the concept of the well-known ISee! software, which has been a reference in research and laboratory environments since the 2000s, building on new technological foundations and with a primary focus on functionality and user-friendliness in productive industrial use.

Different tasks – a unified software platform

Optimal results usually require the combination of different systems, as no inspection technology can meet all requirements at the same time – at least two systems are always necessary. However, using different image processing technologies or devices from various manufacturers increases the overall complexity and cost of the process. Even if most inspection tasks can be performed with a single digital detector (DDA) without the use of analog media (film), it is unlikely that one detector will be sufficient for all types of inspections. Different requirements regarding resolution, size, energy range, or interfaces are generally the reason why several different detectors are used. With ISee! Professional, a large number of detectors available on the market can be controlled and operated from a single, unified software interface.

Specifically developed for the field of non-destructive testing

Unlike competing products, ISee! Professional is not software originally developed for the medical or security sector. ISee! Professional was specifically created for the requirements of non-destructive testing and provides all the necessary tools for standard-compliant digital radiographic inspection, such as weld inspection in accordance with ISO 17636-2 or casting inspection according to DIN EN 12681-2 , inspection of tube-to-tubesheet welds in heat exchangers , corrosion and erosion inspection (wall thickness measurement) , and more. Instead of relying on a multitude of universal filters that are hardly suitable for improving radiographic images and additionally pose a high risk of incorrect use, ISee! Professional offers functions precisely tailored to each application. These easy-to-use tools have proven themselves for more than two decades. With ISee! Professional, you can manage the entire lifecycle of a radiographic image within a single software environment: image acquisition (including control of the X-ray source), visualisation and image optimization, data management (e.g. adding meta-information), measurement and analysis, distributed access (e.g. remote access for external expert evaluation), and the creation of inspection reports. The user-friendly, fully customizable, streamlined and therefore highly clear graphical user interface (GUI) is one of the features that distinguishes ISee! Professional from competing products.

Modular and flexible

ISee! Professional is universally applicable thanks to its modular design and flexible plug-in API. The modules can also be easily adapted to customer requirements. This modular architecture enables us to offer a tailor-made product that is both cost-efficient and expandable—in other words, if a user requires a specific module that is not yet available, it can be developed on request.

ISee! Professional provides users with an integrated scripting language that offers extensive functionality and allows for countless application possibilities. With this scripting language, experienced users can run programs (scripts) within ISee! Professional. These scripts can be used to implement automation processes such as defining workflows, batch processing, controlling external devices, or automating data management tasks. One example is image acquisition for CT and laminography applications. To make the introduction easier for users, we provide a large number of scripts as a basis for later customisation.

Various image processing, analysis, and measurement tools

This functional group includes tools for:

  • Image enhancement (a set of selected filters proven in NDT)
  • Image transformation (rotation, cropping, resizing, etc.)
  • Detector correction and bad-pixel detection and masking (for DDA detectors)
  • Gray value distribution analysis (gray value histogram analysis)
  • Dynamic gray value profile with many additional features
  • CNR, SNR, and SRb measurements
  • Image annotation
  • Wall thickness measuremen
  • Dimensional (linear) and area measurement
  • etc.

Control of various imaging devices

Since no digital detector can meet all requirements at the same time, a wide range of factors must be considered when selecting one, such as different detector sizes, resolutions, scintillators, radiation resistance, frame rates, and not least the price. Thanks to Vision in X’s manufacturer-independent approach and the large number of supported digital detectors, we can offer an optimal solution for your needs. Compatible devices include, among others:

  • all Varex XRD aSi detectors (formerly Perkin Elmer XRD)
with Ethernet connection and with proprietary connections
(copper and fiber optic), e.g. XRD 0822 AO/CO/AP/CP,
    XRD 1622 AO/CO/AP/CP, XRD 1611 AP/CP, XRD 1620 AP/CP,
    XRD 1640 AP/CP, XRD 3025
  • all Varex (formerly Varian) PaxScan detectors
    (e.g. PaxScan 1308DX, 1313DX, 2520D, 2520DX, 2520XI/V,
    2530C, 2530DX, 2530HE, 3024M, 3030D, 4030D, 4336W,
    4336X, 4336R, 4030E, 4343DX, 4343HE)
  • all Varex Dexela CMOS detectors with GigE and CameraLink interfaces
  • all iRay detectors (aSi and CMOS)
